A Moment With Mengsk is an independent dirt racing media outlet rooted in Southern Ohio and the Ohio Valley, built around one simple idea: the people and moments that give this sport its heart deserve to be remembered.

What started in early 2026 as one person learning dirt racing one race, one conversation, and one moment at a time has grown into something much bigger.

Today, A Moment With Mengsk covers grassroots dirt racing through photography, written features, interviews, race previews and recaps, short-form video, historical projects, event promotion, and everything in between. From weekly Saturday night racing to regional series and national touring events, the goal remains the same: tell the stories that exist beyond a finishing order.

That means the driver loading up after a rough night. The family working on a race car together. The crew member who’s been coming through the same gate for thirty years. The kid meeting their favorite driver for the first time. The track being brought back to life after everyone thought its story might be over.

Those moments matter.

A Moment With Mengsk was founded by Mike Mengsk, whose own path through dirt racing has grown alongside the outlet. What began from the grandstands and behind a camera has expanded into interviewing drivers, working alongside tracks and series, producing promotional content, researching the history of local racing, and serving behind the microphone as the Public Address Announcer at Jackson County Speedway, Mudlick Valley Raceway, and Portsmouth Raceway Park.

Highlighting that growth, AMWM is no longer a one-person camera operation.

Contributing photographers and assistants help extend that coverage to more tracks, more events, and more moments, allowing A Moment With Mengsk to continue documenting the sport even when Mike's work behind the microphone keeps him in the announcer's booth.

Through all of that growth, the philosophy hasn't changed.

We're not here to manufacture drama, chase outrage, or clickbait our followers. We're here to listen, ask questions, learn the history, celebrate the people doing the work, and document this sport as authentically as we can.

Some nights that means covering a major touring event.

Other nights it means standing beside a local victory lane while somebody wins the biggest race of their life in front of a few hundred people.

To us, both stories matter because grassroots racing has never just been about race cars.

It's families. It's friendships. It's rivalries. It's history. It's communities gathering under the lights on Friday and Saturday nights. It's generations of people showing up year after year because there's nowhere else they'd rather be.
